Friendship Center For Abused Women

Ecopartners is working on building the Friendship Center for Abused Women in Chicago, IL, which will focus on helping abused women who don’t speak fluent English navigate legal and financial hurdles. The hope is to create a place where these women have easy access to the resources they need to escape abusive situations and start an independent life.

The facility will do this by giving these communities easy access to lawyers, translators, and other experts that can help them understand their rights under US law and connect them with resources to help protect those rights. It will also provide educational classes and workshops to help these women develop the professional and language skills needed to start their own careers and become self-reliant. The facility will also offer services to educate and take care of the children of these women as they go through transitions to a new home and way of life.
